You possess the will to improve, you want to eat healthier, but giving up your favourite foods is too much for the price? Let me guide you through the facts!
No one can defy biology and physics
We are animals. This means our mind will always crave food that is as processed as possible with as many calories as possible, while its consumption is as quick as possible. This is why junk food seems so desirable. We were built to be the toughest survival machines, which means to function on less, and to store any possible surplus.
No matter what your goal is, positive nitrogen balance (protein surplus) and adequate energy level (carb/fat surplus/deficit) is needed. Hence, the numbers are not up to debate, but apart from these there is no limit to anyone’s creativity to experiment and create. It’s just cooking some food for God’s sake, not building a particle accelerator.
What is junk food?
Food that has no nutritional value, nay, harms your body both rom inside and outside. It’s usually liked by tasteless low-level peasants with primitive mindsets. If your environment pushes these down your throat, you need to explain them that eating garbage is demeaning even for raccoons, while for humans it’s suicidal. What is cheat meal?
Cheat meal consists of good ingredients, but its macro ratio does not correspond to normal food. Pastas and doughs are the perfect example. You hop on the carb-coaster, refill your glycogen storages, kick in your slowed down metabolism, and you can get back to real life. It satisfies your lusts, and comes handy when attending some family dinner, so no one thinks you are part of some cult.
Also, I hope you noticed, but it’s not cheat diet, but cheat MEAL, which indicates that it’s usually a couple of meals you cheat with on yourself, and not entire days of fornication.

So what is real food then?
Everything consisting of good ingredients. Yes, you can use bacon, you can use sausage, but as flavouring, not as main food. I think it’s pretty simple, everything from chicken-rice to fancy recipes. Real food has enough proteins so that your daily intake can reach 1.8-2 g * (height [cm]-100), while carbs and fats accordingly. It contains preferably complex carbs and unsaturated fats.
